Riparium Vs Paludarium

Riparium vs paludarium. While they are similar a riparium is usually known as a riverbed aquarium. Riparium is another branch under paludarium. Riparium a riparium is a planted tank that may contain wetland habitat streams and a shoreline where marginal plants can grow including emersed and terrestrial.

The purpose of a riparium is to create an environment like a riverbank. Paludariums require high humidity unlike ripariums which don t require such high levels of humidity therefore creating what is often called the wow effect when plants grow out of the tank even though both are aquatic only paludarium is terrestrial. Paludariums and ripariums have various similarities and differences.

Often rich in mosses semi aquatic marsh plants and even fully terrestrial species. But rather than an even split in a riparium the land takes a complementary role in creating a shoreline. Riparium ripariums are similar to a paludarium in that they too contain earth and aquatic elements.
